The Global Institute of Aviation began as part-time classes in June 2000, through the effort of Mr. Lawrence Baafi. The classes were being organized on one-on-one basis where workers are taught after work between 5:30pm – 7:30pm in the residence of Mr. Baafi.

In October 2000, the number of part-time students increased which urged the organizers to secure a classroom at the Snaps Junior Secondary School in Asylum down Accra.

The Global Institute of Aviation organized classes for courses in the Aviation Industry on part-time basis at the Snaps Junior Secondary School until June 2004, when Mr. Lawrence Baafi made a move to make Global Institute of Aviation a full-time private pre-tertiary Institution.

It was formally located at Osu, Naa Otua Plaza, 1st Ringway Estate and recently moved to Faanofa Road, Adabraka adjacent to Iran Clinic.
